Civil Partnership Act welcomed at Sevendials Restaurant
Brighton’s top restaurant along with many of the city’s residents welcomes the new “Civil Partnership Act”
September 2005 … Sevendials Restaurant, Brighton is preparing for an influx of private hire enquiries, as the introduction of the Civil Partnership Act comes into force from 21st December 2005. It will allow same sex civil ceremonies to take place thus legally binding the relationship between same sex couples.
Since being granted a licence in 2003 to hold civil ceremonies in both the main restaurant and the Vault (Private Room), Sevendials has become a popular choice for couples of all genders to celebrate their love.
As far back as September 2003, the restaurant hosted its first Commitment Ceremony that offered couples of any gender, who are unable to go through a ceremony of marriage, the opportunity to celebrate their commitment to each other.
The new legislation, however, is set to create a surge in same sex ceremonies as the new legal status as “registered Civil Partners”, will provide couples with a package of civil rights combined with the chance to express their devotion as a pair.
Sam Metcalfe, Owner/Head Chef said, “We have a great mix of customers that reflects the melting pot of Brighton. The change in law is long overdue bringing us in line with many other countries including Canada, Germany, The Netherlands & Spain. Myself & my team can now look forward to providing a sector of our customers an unforgettable celebration should they choose to hold their civil ceremony and/or celebration with us”.
“Sevendials offers a stylish alternative to the more traditional hotels and venues in East Sussex. Not only does the distinctive former Bank building create an impressive backdrop for the special day, but the attention to detail & award winning food created is paramount to the success of the occasion.”
It is the personal touch that has the strong appeal to the discerning customer. Sam & his restaurant manager personally sit down with each couple to understand their individual tastes, ideas, dreams & plans… almost anything can be arranged, from a string quartet to a drag queen, a heart-shaped dessert to a cocktail & canapé reception.
Unlike many venues, Sevendials will not charge a room hire ensuring that couples spend their budget on food and drink for everyone to enjoy. The restaurant has several options for holding the ceremony and/or the celebration: the Vault, a romantic hideaway with luscious deep red walls, mirrors, velvet & silk panels & erotic artwork holds 20 guests; the main restaurant accommodates up to 55 seated or 75 standing & during the warmer months the Summer Terrace makes a fabulous alternative for a cocktail reception.
Menu prices are reasonable considering that the restaurant uses the freshest & highest quality ingredients available. Prices are from £40 for 3 courses plus 12% service charge. Example dishes include Open Ravioli of Chicken & Foie Gras with Girolle Mushrooms, Roasted Herb Crusted Loin of New Season Lamb on Potato Gratin seared Cherry Tomatoes with a Rosemary Jus & Blackberry Crème Brulée
